Oregon (U.S.A) – 5 April 2025

Oregon is located in the continent North America in the United States. It has Washington to the north, Idaho to the east, Nevada and California to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

It gained statehood on 14 February 1859 and is #33 out of 50 states.

The capital is Salem.

The climate ranges from equable, mild, marine conditions on the coast to continental conditions of dryness and extreme temperature, in the interior.

THE GARDENBURGER (https://www.food.com/recipe/the-gardenburger-20011):

  • 2 tsp bulgar wheat
  • 1lb. mushroom
  • 1 C onion, diced
  • ½ C rolled oats
  • 2/3 C cooked brown rice
  • ½ C mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tsp shredded low-fat cheddar cheese
  • 2 tsp low fat cottage cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • Olive oil
  • ¼ C boiling water
  • ½ C water
  1. Add the boiling water to the bulgar wheat in a small bowl and let it sit for about 1 hour.
  2. Steam the quartered mushrooms for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove.
  4. Steam the onion for 10 minutes.
  5. Remove.
  6. Keep the mushrooms and onion separate.
  7. Add ½ cup water to the oats and let them soak for 10 minutes.
  8. Drain excess water from the oats and bulgar.
  9. Combine the grains with the mushrooms, rice, cheese and spices in a food processor and pulse 5 times or until ingredients are chopped fine but NOT pureed.
  10. Pour mixture into a bowl and add the steamed onion and cornstarch, mix well.
  11. Preheat oven to 300F.
  12. Lightly oil a baking sheet.
  13. Lightly oil a skillet.
  14. Form mixture into patties and brown in skillet on both sides and remove to baking sheet.
  15. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, turning halfway through baking.
  16. These can be frozen after they are cooled.

The flavor of this burger was really good and pretty easy to make!!!

Not going to lie, but I did not make these from scratch. I bought them 🙂 They were great!!!

NORTHWEST MARIONBERRY PIE (https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/246928/northwest-marionberry-pie/):

  • 6 C fresh marionberries
  • ¾ C white sugar
  • 6 TBSP all-purpose flour
  • 1 TBSP lemon juice
  • One 15oz. package pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
  • 2 tsp water, or as needed
  • 2 tsp white sugar, or to taste
  1. Preheat the oven to 450F.
  2. Combine marionberries, ¾ cup sugar, flour, and lemon juice together in a large bowl.
  3. Place 1 pie crust in the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate.
  4. Add marionberry filling.
  5. Cover with remaining crust; crimp edges to seal.
  6. Brush the pie lightly with water.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 2 tsp sugar on top.
  8. Cut 4 to 8 slits (1-inch) in the top crust with a knife.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.
  10. Reduce heat to 350F and continue baking until crust is golden, 45 to 50 minutes more.
  11. Let cool completely before serving, for about 1 hour.

I could not find marionberries here in Utah, so substituted blackberries and raspberries instead. Still a really good flavor and recipe. I will have to work to make this actual recipe with marionberries sometime!!

I made enough burgers for future use, so will work to get sprouts, and good things on the next burger!!
