Alabama is located in the continent North America in the United States. It has Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida to the south and Mississippi to the west.

It gained statehood on 19 December 1819 and is #22 out of 50 states.

The capital is Montgomery.

The climate is temperate, with an average annual temperature of about 64F, mellowed by altitude to some 60F in the northern counties and reaching 67F in the southern counties.

ALABAMA OVEN FRIED CHICKEN (https://www.food.com/recipe/alabama-oven-fried-chicken-249318):

  • 3lbs. chicken breasts
  • ½ C flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ¼ C margarine, melted
  1. Wash and dry the chicken.
  2. Salt and pepper and then sprinkle lightly with the flour.
  3. Place in greased casserole and pour melted margarine over each piece.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 1-1/2 hours until golden brown (ovens vary, please keep checking).

So easy to do and has such a great flavor!!!

ALABAMA WHITE BBQ SAUCE (https://www.southernliving.com/recipes/white-bbq-sauce):

  • 1 C mayonnaise
  • 1/3 C apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tsp water
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp hot sauce
  1. Combine mayonnaise, vinegar, water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and hot sauce in a small bowl.
  2. Stir together until smooth.
  3. Chill.
  4. Serve immediately or chilled. Refrigerate for up to 3 days.

I poured this over my check and my fried green tomatillos!!! Very unique flavor and good!!

FRIED GREEN TOMATOES (https://www.food.com/recipe/fried-green-tomatoes-100468):

  • 1 C stone-ground cornmeal
  • 1 C all-purpose flour
  • 1 TBSP garlic powder
  • 1 pinch cayenne
  • 1-1/2 C buttermilk
  • Kosher salt
  • Fresh ground black pepper
  • 4 large unripe tomatoes, cut into ½ inch thick slices, ends removed
  • ½ C vegetable oil
  • 1 TBSP unsalted butter
  • Hot pepper sauce, for serving
  • Lemon wedge, for serving
  1. In a large bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, garlic powder, and cayenne together.
  2. Pour the buttermilk into a separate bowl and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Dip the tomatoes in the buttermilk and then dredge them in the cornmeal mixture, coating both sides well.
  4. Place a large cast iron skillet over medium heat and coat with the oil.
  5. When the oil is hot, pan-fry the tomatoes (in batches if necessary) until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
  6. Carefully remove the tomatoes and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve with hot pepper sauce and lemon.

Yea I looked all over town without success in finding any unripe tomatoes, so I used tomatillos. I peeled them so they did not have such a tart flavor. Really good!!!

SOUTHERN PEACH COBBLER (https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/22778/southern-peach-cobbler/):

  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1 C white sugar
  • ¾ C self-rising flour
  • ¾ C milk
  • One 29oz can sliced peaches in light syrup
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Place butter in a deep 2-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix sugar and flour.
  4. Stir in milk, a little at a time, until wholly incorporated.
  5. Pour carefully over melted butter in dish.
  6. Spoon peaches and syrup over batter.
  7. Bake in preheated over for 35 to 45 minutes, until crust is puffed and golden.

Super good. Especially with some homemade cream!!!!
